FALL BOOK SALE
The 2011 Fall Book Sale was held on September 10th at the Library annex. It was a great success, and we grossed approximately $3,100 for library resources!
A big THANK YOU to the Friends' volunteers who worked before, during and after the sale. Boxes of books that had been packed for the expected move to the FriendShop had to be unpacked, organized and put on shelves for the sale. Volunteers also restocked the shelves and worked as cashiers during the sale. Great job everyone!

LET'S DECORATE THE CHRISTMAS TREE!
Within our new Patrick Heath Public Library there is a lot of space that needs decorating for the upcoming holidays. The Library Foundation is asking for the Friends' help in decorating a large Christmas tree in the "Community room" and the entryway.
Please help by donating a Christmas ornament for the tree in the Community area.....
If you can contribute, please bring your ornament(s) and/or Christmas books to the front desk area of PHPL and place them in the box marked "Community Christmas Contributions".
Let's work together to make the library beautiful this holiday season.

Thank you!
FRIENDSHOP UPDATE
The concrete entryway to our new building was poured the week of September 26th. Bob Vollmer, the project manager, has engaged subcontractors to do the remaining electrical, flooring, and painting.

Thanks to Home Depot for their recent $50.00 donation. The money will be used to purchase some of the bathroom hardware. We continue to be confident that the FriendShop will be completed for our big Holiday Book Sale and official grand opening on December 10th.

Rebecca's Tree
At the September meeting, we voted to ask for a Big Tooth maple tree from the Boerne Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas. Dani Vollmer asked Suzanne Young, the project director of Big Tooth Maples for Boerne Texas, for a tree to be planted at the FriendShop in memory of Rebecca Yoder, 2nd Vice President, FOBPL who died in August 2011.
Suzanne has offered to give us a large tree, but because of the drought conditions she could not say when it would be available for planting.
We hope to dedicate the tree at our December Book Sale and FriendShop grand opening on December 10th.
Being on our e-mail list we will keep you informed of our meetings, book sales and activities. If your e-mail address changes, please advise clp1958@gvtc.com. Thank you.
